SolarMarkt AG, one of the largest European photovoltaic wholesalers and integrators, is merging with Wurth Solar, a leading European integrator and manufacturer of CIS thin film modules. All SolarMarkt subsidiaries are included in the merge, including the U.S. based Session Solar.
The merge integrates and expands the global expertise of SolarMarkt and Wurth Solar to include PV wholesales, integration, and manufacturing of mounting systems and solar thin film modules. The merge is an essential part of the global diversity strategy of the Wurth Solar Group.
It is the goal of the newly constituted Wurth Solar Group to grow at a faster pace than the PV market and achieve sales of over $650 million by 2014.
SolarMarkt AG is a PV wholesaler and system integrator with over 25 years of experience in the solar business. Through its subsidiary Creotecc GmbH, the company also operates as a mounting system manufacturer, product developer and dealer. Wurth Solar is a leading innovator in the manufacturing of CIS solar modules and also sells complete PV systems through direct sales or approved service partners in Europe.
Both companies are active in solar power plant projects across the globe.
"Under the umbrella of Wurth Solar, we realize long-term strategies and financial strength which are important for our growth and for moving the business into the international market," says Gunter Elbrecht, CEO of SolarMarkt AG. "We believe our employees, partners and clients will gain added security and long-term success due to this merge."
After the merge, all companies including Wurth Solar, SolarMarkt AG, Session Solar and Creotecc will continue to be lead independently and operate with their own brands and markets.
"The merge with SolarMarkt is an important part of our future strategy to grow globally. With SolarMarkt AG we merged with a very successful wholesaler and system integrator," says Karl-Heinz Gross, President of Wurth Solar. "SolarMarkt gives us a greater and more diverse footprint in the industry in order to secure our future growth."
Pending final approval by the German Federal Cartel Office, Wurth Solar will acquire a 100 percent share in SolarMarkt AG, including Session Solar and Creotecc GmbH, as well as all other foreign subsidiaries and project companies.
